How Much Does a Private Colosseum Tour Cost in Rome?

A private Colosseum tour with Kai Travel costs from 405 € to 875 € for the whole group, not per person. The total varies slightly with the size of your party, because only the entrance tickets are charged per traveller. The entrance tickets to the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill are already included. There is nothing more to pay at the gate.

Private Colosseum Tour Prices

TourDurationPrice (example for 2 people)
Colosseum and Roman Forum3 hours440 €
Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill3.5 hours490 €
Colosseum Arena Floor and Roman Forum3 hours500 €
Colosseum Underground, Arena Floor and Roman Forum3 hours570 €

Every price above is the total for your group, includes entrance tickets and buys a genuinely private tour — no strangers are added to your party.

What the Price Includes

  • Entrance tickets to the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.
  • A licensed guide holding an official Italian tour guide licence and authorised to work inside the Colosseum complex.
  • Reserved entry slots secured through our accreditation with the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo, so you do not wait in the general ticket queue.
  • A private tour for your party alone, at your pace.

Why the Price Is per Group, Not per Person

Most Colosseum tours advertise a price per person, so a family of four pays that figure four times over. A Kai Travel private tour is priced per group, and the total cost changes only slightly depending on the number of participants. This is because the guide’s fee remains the same, while the only additional cost is the entrance tickets, which vary according to the number of people in the group.

This is why comparing a private tour price directly against a group tour price is misleading. The honest comparison is the group total against the group total — and once you are three or four people, a private guided tour is often much closer to a shared tour than the headline figures suggest.

Is a Private Colosseum Tour Worth the Money?

A shared tour moves at the pace of twenty or fifteen  strangers and questions get asked over the heads of people you have never met. A private tour follows your interests, your walking speed and your children’s attention span. If someone in your party wants twenty minutes on the gladiator barracks and nothing on Renaissance quarrying, that is what happens.

For travellers who are in Rome once, and who will spend their morning at the Colosseum whatever they book, the difference is usually decided by the quality of that morning rather than by the receipt.

Booking and Access

Kai Travel is an officially accredited tour operator of the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo. That accreditation is what allows us to hold official entry slots and to run tours in the restricted areas of the monument. It also means our access is arranged inside the park’s official framework rather than through resale.
